Yoga Okoboji is the Iowa Great Lakes only yoga studio.  Conveniently located in the
Stables Office Plaza on Highway 71  across the street from the
Okoboji Summer Theater. The studio is accessible by Iowa Great Lakes Trails
and has plenty of parking.

Abdominal Focus
This class is a half-hour session (half a punch on your card or $6 drop in) focused on strengthening and toning the abdominals.  A warm-up will be followed with an intense blend of exercises and postures from yoga, pilates, and basic fitness.  This class will strengthen your core, allowing you greater ease in your yoga postures.  A great add-on class before your morning yoga!- Jen

Prana Sadhana
Prana Sadhana is an energizing class focusing on yogic breathing techniques, gentle to moderate postures, quality relaxation and meditation with an intention to raise self-awareness and consciousness.  This class is appropriate for beginners open to trying new things in a supportive environment, those seeking stress relief, flexibility, balance and energy.   90 minutes - Nicole



A children's yoga workshop will be held on Saturday, November 21 at 11 a.m. The 45 minutes workshop, “Wild Animal Yoga”, will incorporate gorilla, horse and elephant poses. The workshop is for students ages 5-12.  $8

Yoga is for every "body". Yoga Okoboji strives to have a variety of classes to accommodate all levels.

The wonderful concept at Yoga Okoboji is that you can  leave your stress, worries and preconceptions at the door and just have fun whether you are new to yoga or if you have been doing it for years. When you walk into our studio you are beginning all over again. It is a place to just be. Be with your breath, be with your body and be with your spirit. There is no "wrong" or "right" yoga here. We accept you and what you bring each time you walk through the door.

Yoga Okoboji's mission is to be open to and practice various types of yoga. You will be offered insight into the eight-fold path which offers guidelines for a meaningful and purposeful life.

 

 

 

 

Janine Gustafson
 
Janine has been teaching yoga since 2001 and is a 200 hour certified and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance.

She has attended and continues to attend classes and workshops, with Manju Pattabhi Jois, David Swenson, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Ana Forrest, Tias Little, and many others.   Janine has found her own voice in yoga. 

After her original certification, she continues to study and practice various yoga styles from Kundalini to Ashtanga.  Janine is passionate about sharing her yoga knowledge and experience with her community.  The road ahead looks bright. 

Nicole Snow

Nicole is a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher and is currently enrolled in Kripalu Advanced Yoga Teacher Training.  She has been teaching yoga since 1997 and has had the honor of teaching with internationally recognized yoga teachers such as Rodney Yee, Donna Farhi, and Erich Shiffmann.  She has spent a total of five months in residence at Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, MA studying the depth of yoga.  Her intention is to teach a yoga practice that is accessible to all levels and to awaken the possibility of a fulfilled and satisfying life through the practice of yoga as a comprehensive system for self-development. 

Marta Barnard

Marta Barnard is a choreographer, movement and acting coach with twenty years of experience teaching a variety of styles from West African primitive dance to  Modern Movement Meditations and Shakespeare.  She studied Rolfing Movement with her mentors Nancy Spanier and Paul Oretel, and has used that sacred gift to work with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's patients, as well as children of child abuse.  Her students have ranged in age from three to 83.  Marta wants people to experience the Joy of Movement and Yoga throughout their entire lives.  Learning to free the natural voice and body in Yoga practice helps to replace stress with health, creativity and joy.

Michelle Stacy-Spaeth
 
Michelle Stacy-Spaeth is a certified personal trainer specializing in yoga with over 300 training hours from Temple of Kriya Yoga Chicago.  She has a history in synchronize swimming, dance and special needs education.  She has attended wonderful workshops from Goswami Kriyananda, Kim Schwartz, David Lipschutz, Elise Miller, Baron Baptiste, Paul Weitz, Mas Vidal, Edward Clark, and Linda Christy Weiler.

It is her ongoing purpose to share in the symphony of life, cultivating harmony, joy & kindness.  It is her pleasure to donate a dollar for Special Ed. students for each class you attend.  Michelle

Sharon Osher

RYT Registered 500 HourAdvanced Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. 

In 1970, Sharon discovered and began studying the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. She received formal Kriya Yoga initiation from the Master's Yogoda Satsanga Society/Self Realization Fellowship in 1980. She continues this practice of Raja Yoga. 

In 1995, she completed the Yoga Alliance recognized Synergy Yoga teacher training program with Peri Ness and the ten week Bikram Yoga Intensive with Bikram Choudhury in 2000. She is currently studying Paul Grilley's yin and meridian theory principles. 

Sharon's legacy to her 6 children and 10 grandchildren is the Yogic Path of meditation, ethical precepts, right behavior, and discipline.

Jen Anderson

 Jen is the owner of Satori Healing Arts Studio & Boutique, a Licensed Massage Therapist, Mother Massage® Practitioner, Reiki II Practitioner and is a Gold Certified Piyo Instructor.  Jen also will begin her 200 hr RYT training at Sun Moon Yoga this September.

 As a former dancer of 15 years, Jen is learning every day to simply enjoy the practice rather than preparing for the performance. Her goal is to continue to grow and learn and to share the joy of practice with others.
